Carol Sue Barnett, 78, of Port Lavaca, earned her angel wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 6, 2025.  She was born June 24, 1946 in Bay City to Frank A. and Aleene Margaret McBride.  
Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was a member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church. In her younger years, she sang in the choir and served as the church pianist. She also taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and worked with the youth group. 
Carol discovered that she had a gift for teaching and began teaching piano lessons, sharing her love of music with young and old alike.
Carol then began teaching painting and opened her art studio, Carol’s Corner. 
Carol had an adventurous spirit and took advantage of the opportunity to go parasailing and riding in a hot air balloon. She also enjoyed painting, music, dancing, fishing, hunting, table games, and spending time with her family and friends. 
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Bowden Kruse (David); grandchildren, Matthew Dalton (Karin), Charles “Chance” Bowden (Megan), Jennifer Kruse Rodriguez (Tomas “P-nut”); great-grandchildren, Thaelen, Legion, Abigail, Kayleigh, Tommy and David; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Rosemary McBride.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles “Charlie” Barnett; her precious dog, Peaches; parents; and brother, Gary McBride.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11a.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bender officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers are Matthew Dalton, Charles “Chance” Bowden, Glen Higgins, Jonathan Callaway,  William “Will” Brown, Abel Jesus “A.J.” Martinez, and James Hill. Honorary pallbearers are David Kruse, Harry Deffenbaugh, Bradley Deffenbaugh, and Michael Krahn
Memorial donations may be made to the Calhoun County Humane Society or Friends of the Library in Port Lavaca, Texas.
