Mrs. Helen Thomas, 94, of Port Lavaca passed away February 27, 2025.  She was born to Ben and Veronica Dworaczyk on August 17, 1930 in Long Mott, Texas.  Helen graduated from Port Lavaca High School in 1947 and went to receive a degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1977.  She worked as an ICU Nurse at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca, was a homemaker and was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Andy Thomas (Carol) of Port Lavaca, Benny Thomas of Port Lavaca, Mickey Thomas of Port Lavaca, Rosy Weaver (Kenny) of Port Lavaca, Ted Thomas (Leslie) of Victoria, John Thomas (Sandra) of Katy, and Mark Thomas (Tamara) of Palos Park, IL; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Veronica Henderson of Rockport and Barbara Vivion (Tom) of Blessing; brothers, Frank Dworaczyk (Jane) of Austin and Marty Dworaczyk (Brenda) of Port Lavaca; son-in-law, Ervin Hartl; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Dworaczyk, Jimmie Dworaczyk and Pat Dworaczyk.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Hennessey S. Thomas; parents; daughter, Theresa Hartl; granddaughter, Melissa Weaver; and siblings, Bernadine Alexander, Charlotte Sartor, James Dworaczyk, Benny Dworaczyk, and Archie Dworaczyk.
Mrs. Thomas will lie in state from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home for visitors to come and go on their own schedule.  Visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 1-1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church followed by a rosary at 1:30 and funeral mass at 2 p.m. with Father Tommy Chen officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.
Pallbearers are Russell Hartl, Frankie Thomas, Austin Thomas, Brady Busa, Andrew Griffin, and Garrett Bych.  Honorary Pallbearers are the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations be given in her memory to Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
