Raymond Wayne Goynes

Raymond Wayne Goynes, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Kerrville, TX. He was born on September 24, 1942, in Houston, TX, to the late Fred and Maggie Goynes. 
The seventh of ten siblings, Raymond grew up in Bloomington, TX, where he graduated high school in 1961. He was an active FFA member and played on the football team. 
After high school, Raymond pursued a career as a pipefitter and welder, later founding GoRay Construction and owning Real Bldg & Supply Co. in Leakey, TX, for nine years. He was a skilled craftsman who built many homes and churches, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served. 
In 1961, Raymond met the love of his life, Wanda Carter, and they married on November 2, 1963, in Port Lavaca, TX. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Dale (Laura) Goynes of Victoria, TX, and Leah (Kevin) Holsey of Bandera, TX. They were married for 61 years. In his free time, Raymond loved to hunt and fish and was deeply committed to his jail ministry in Hallettsville, TX, where he passionately shared his faith for many years. 
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Goynes; children, Dale (Laura) Goynes and Leah (Kevin) Holsey; and four grandchildren: Jesse, Maia Romans and her husband Logan, Nate (Eden), and Kelly. He is also survived by his siblings, Margie Dillon, Fred Goynes Jr., Mike Goynes, and Darrel Goynes, along with many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maggie Goynes, and siblings, Donald “Buddy” Goynes, Marie Heller, Janelle Wyatt Baker, Marcell “Sonny” Goynes, and Olena Ferguson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at Six Mile Assembly of God Church in Port Lavaca, TX, followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. 
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Arbor View Nursing and Rehab and the hospice team for their exceptional care and loving kindness.
