Burnard "B.B." Boyd Browning

Burnard "B.B." Boyd Browning, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, passed away on Feb. 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Born Dec.27, 1937, in Lohn, Texas, to Opal Marie (Smith) and Vernon Lee Browning, B.B. grew up with strong values of service and community. In 1964, he married the love of his life, Ida Mae "Tiney" Browning, and they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2019.
B.B. is survived by his daughter, Tanya Lenise Browning of Port Lavaca; son, Bryan Alan Browning (wife Barbara) of North Padre Island; grandchildren, Zoe Granada (Nick), SSG Keelin Stringo (Allisa), Jacob Browning (Cierra), Hunter Browning, Seth Wesson (Melissa) and Peri Coulter (Michael); great-grandchildren, Atlas and Sidda Granada, Marshall Stringo, Melody Browning and Dossi Coulter; and sisters, Peggy Leonard Stoker and Vonda Browning. He is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
A distinguished law enforcement officer, Browning made history as Calhoun County’s longest-serving consecutive sheriff. His decades of dedicated service were recognized at the state level when he received the Tom Tellepsen Award at the Sheriff’s Association of Texas Annual Banquet in 2012, an honor he had long admired and deeply appreciated. Prior to his law enforcement career, Browning was employed by Union Carbide for 34 years.
B.B. Browning’s legacy of dedication, service, and love for his family and community will live on in the many lives he touched.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of Trinity Shores for the exceptional care B.B. received. He always felt Trinity Shores was home.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 from 5–7 p.m. at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca, followed by interment at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. A reception at the VFW will follow the burial.
Pallbearers are Mark Daigle, Bobbie Vickery, Steve De La Cruz, Renette Todd, Tyrone Harris, Mike Kovarek, Jesse Alvarez, and Keelin Stringo.
Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Browning, Hunter Browning, Nick Granada, Johnny Krause, Tammy Gregory, and Randy Duke.
Memorial donations can be made to Harbor Hospice or charity of your choice in B.B.’s memory.
