Felix Garza

Felix Garza, 98 of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on February 4, 2025.   He was born on November 25, 1926 in Austwell, Texas to the late Lionzo Garza and Guadalupe Pena Garza.  Felix married the love of his life, Grace Minjares Garza and they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2011.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by those that loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lionzo Garza and Guadalupe Pena Garza; his wife Grace Minjares Garza; his son Felix “Sonny” Garza, his brothers Leopoldo Garza, Raul Garza and Manuel Garza.  

He is survived by his daughter Linda Hedrick (Stacy), daughter-in-law Cindy Garza; sister Elida Marez; grandchildren, Melissa Sanchez; Michelle Sanchez (Jackie); Chris Garza (Felicia); John Hedrick (Jenny); Monica Keller (Nick); Kenny Schuback (Margaret); Sean Schuback (Amber); Felicia Rodriquez (Robert); great-grandchildren, Aubreigh, Emma, Trooper, Joaquin, Eva, Addison, Gwen, Autumn, Jacob, Gianni, Grant, Oliver, Christopher, Frankie, Phillip, Damien, Demetrio, Victoria and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

He served in the Army during WWII as a Technician Fifth Grade Company C 707th Tank Battalion.  He worked at Alcoa for 34 years retired and went to work for HUD for 21 years and retired.  Felix was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 3915. He has had season tickets to the Calhoun High School Sandcrabs football games since the 70’s and continued to attend till this past year.  He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and going to the casinos where he played Let It Ride.  His greatest passion was playing dominoes, which he played 3 or 4 games a day, even when he was in the Hospital.  He taught his grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play.  It was a great day when we beat him.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday February 13 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p. m., at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.  On Friday, February 14, Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.  

Honoring the family as pallbearers are:  Kyle Curtis, Cameron Furr, Mark McCaslin, Joe Rivera, Jackie Sanchez, Joaquin Sanchez, Trooper Sanchez.
