Candelaria “Candy” Munoz Flores, age 80, of Port Lavaca, TX, passed away on January 20, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1944, to Gabriel Jaramillo Muñoz and Trinedad Mancias Muñoz in Floresville, TX. In 1961, Candy married the love of her life, Eduardo “Eddie” Flores, Sr., and they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2018. She is survived by her sister, Carolina Munoz Benavides (Gilbert); her children, Alana Flores LaQuay (Richard), Eduardo “Eddie” Flores, Jr. (Melissa), Betty Flores Cowey (Brian), Gregory Flores II, Lisa Flores Chavez (Ignacio), and Joe Larry Flores (Nancy). Candy’s grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart, include Candice (Jason), Stephen (Sonya), Cecilia “Cissy” (Asaad “AJ”), Eduardo “Eddie” III (Angelis), Adrianna, Rudolpho “Rudy”, Mary Rose (Zach), Gabriella (Michael), Kaitlin, Kelsey, Ivy, Alysia, Susana, Anna, Cindy, and Eric. She also leaves behind 37 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Alicia “Alice” Flores, brothers Manuel, Gabriel, Margarito, and Richard Munoz, and her nephews Manuel Munoz Jr., Daniel Munoz Jr., Rudolpho “Rudy” Munoz, Alfredo Munoz, and niece Trinedad “Trine” Munoz Garza, as well as many other family members and loved ones.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to her son Gregory, who devotedly cared for both Mom and Dad, offering love and support in countless ways. His dedication and selflessness never went unnoticed. Special thanks also to Mom’s fur protector Max, who was a loyal companion to both Mom and Dad, always providing protection and comfort. We also extend our gratitude to Michael Caughron, NP, Calhoun County Home Health, and Dr. George Osuchukwu for their compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Candy will be remembered for her love of family, her kind spirit, and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
