Calhoun County commissioners and family members gather in the commissioners’ courtroom next to the empty chair of Judge Richard Meyer Thursday, Nov. 21. Prior to that hundreds of community members stopped by the Bauer Community Center to pay their respects and share memories of Meyer who passed away suddenly, Monday, Nov. 18.

The students are studying Christmas Around the World with a focus on Germany. Since gingerbread originated in Germany, the Sanders’ read “Gingerbread Mouse,” before the students decorated, ate and wrote about how to make a gingerbread cookie.
