Robert Lee Taylor, aged 90 years, passed away November 1, 2024, in Port Lavaca, Texas. His wife, Jane Elinor Taylor and sons Robert M., Thomas B., James M., and daughters Dianna L. and Cindy J. survive him. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, daughter Susan M. and his son Ronald E. There are eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Robert was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Robert and Marie Taylor. He graduated as a Tool and Die maker from Fort Wayne General Electric School in 1955. He married Jane in 1956 in Fort Wayne. Robert was a flight maintenance technician for the Air National Guard for seven years. He was a member of Precious Blood Church and then Saint Therese in Fort Wayne. He began part time college with Purdue University in 1964, but in 1972 while living in White Pigeon, Michigan, he attended college full time, graduating from Western Michigan University in 1977 with a master's in business finance and a minor in engineering. His business career took him into several management positions for Onan Electrical Generating Systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota, ending with Factory Representative for the Northeast United States.
After retirement, Robert and Jane traveled by camper, touring every state and flying to Alaska and Hawaii. Wanting to be nearer to several of his children who had settled in Texas, in 2023 he left Michigan and became a resident Texan.
He attended Saint Ann's Church in Point Comfort and was a reader at Mass. Robert was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Knights of Columbus Council 3253.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 16th, with a Rosary service at 9:30 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Point Comfort, Texas.
