Emilio De Ochoa Jr., 103, of Victoria passed away September 14, 2024. He was born August 21, 1921 in Seadrift to Emilio De Ochoa Sr. and Josephina Sandoval De Ochoa.
Emilio was a proud career Army World War II Veteran, receiving the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the VFW Post 4146. During his years of service in Mainz and Nurenburg, Germany, he seized the opportunity to take his family to explore the countryside and major sights in Europe, a priceless gift of treasured memories. He retired at Ft. Hood as Sergeant First Class. Emilio enjoyed helping friends and family in his retirement. He also enjoyed cooking and serving others at his Dew Drop In Cafe, as well as serving as Produce Manager at Stanley’s Grocery Store in Port Lavaca.
He is survived by his son, Eddie De Ochoa (Denise); daughters, Sylvia Friddle (Paul) and Lisa Asdahl; sister, Anita Pena; grandchildren, Chris Friddle (Adriana), Tessa Friddle, Tammy Friddle, Edward Jason Asdahl (Misty), and John Asdahl (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Montse Friddle, Brandon Friddle, Christian Davidson (Malcom), Cass Dutton, Dayton Asdahl, Brynlee Asdahl, Fisher Asdahl, and Gracelyn Asdahl; great-great-grandchildren, Aria and Svea Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Ella Pedraza Solis; and siblings, Jesus, Dolores, Guadalupe, Inocente, Pauline, Consuelo, Esther, Maria and Juanita.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
