Bernie McGrady

Bernie McGrady, 82, of Port Lavaca, Texas, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.  He was born on November 30, 1941, in Indiana to the late Ivan and Mary Wright.  

Bernie proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1961 - 1967.  He married Ione Castleberry and together they raised 3 children.  Bernie worked for Auto Parts & Machine Shop for 20 years and Walmart Automotive for 20 years until his retirement.  He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and proud of it. He enjoyed being around his family, especially his grandsons and great grandson.  He was a hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.  He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him. 

Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife of  59 years, Ione McGrady; daughters, Renae Adams, Carla Koehl, and Candace Harlan (Lance); grandchildren, Kristopher McGrew (Shelby), Cameron Koehl, Trenton Harlan, and Hannah Harlan; great-grandson, Declan McGrew, and many friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Mary Wright and brother, Curtis Wright.                                                                   

Visitation will begin Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 2:00PM with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars at 4:00PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca. Sharing of stories are welcomed prior to Military Honors.

Victoria, TX 77901.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stepps, Detar ICU, Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room staff, and Dr. Ali Jafri, for their exceptional care given to Bernie.
