Donald B. Haynes

Donald “Donny” Bert Haynes, 61, of Port O’Connor, Texas went to his heavenly home on September 26, 2024. He was born October 12, 1962 in Houston, Texas to the late Bert Haynes and Bobbie Jo Van.

Family and friends gathered for visitation on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service at 12:00 PM at Grace Funeral Chapel in Port Lavaca, Texas. Burial was at Port O’Connor Cemetery with a meal served afterward at Port O’Connor Community Center.

Donny loved his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, BBQing, family outings, hunting and boat riding. Donny owned the Smokin’ Nuts BBQ team and won numerous awards for his famous brisket and ribs.  Donny was an electrician and welder who owned Action Welding in Port O’Connor for several years.  He also put on the fireworks display in POC for more than 20 years. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

Leaving to cherish Donny’s memory is his loving wife, Sheryl Haynes of Houston, Texas; step-mother, Joanne Haynes, of Port O’Connor; daughter, Mandi Zitzman (Luke) of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, Lucas Haynes (Kenna) of Tivoli, Texas, Collin Haynes (Kayln) of Port Lavaca, Texas; sisters, Pam Stryker (Robert) of Schroeder, Texas, Becky Haynes of Port O’Connor, Texas; 8 grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.
