William Sturm, 87 of Port Lavaca passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born October 11, 1936 in Jackson County, Texas to the late Hugo Sturm and Lottie Hoffman Sturm.

William was a 1955 graduate of Port Lavaca High School and a 1957 graduate of Victoria College. He is a military veteran having served in the United States Army. He worked for Alcoa for 34 years and retired as a Stores Buyer in the Procurement Dept. William married Dianna Pfeifer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown on June 7, 1964, and they had two children, Karen and Craig. He volunteered in the community and was a faithful and active member of Salem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, going walking, traveling, going dancing, watching football games and country music shows, helping others and spending time with family and friends. He was a former member of the DaCosta Western Dance Club and the Texas German Society.

William is survived by his wife; Dianna Sturm; daughter, Karen Sturm of Seguin; daughter-in-law, Kerri Sturm of Sherman; granddaughter, Emma Sturm of Sherman; brother, Max Sturm and wife Roberta of Port Lavaca; sister-in-law, Geraldine Sturm of Ander; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rev. Craig Sturm; sisters, Sophie Sturm and Minnie Sturm Zapalac; brothers, Hugo Sturm, Rudolph Sturm and Fritz Sturm; and nephew, Rudy Sturm, Jr..

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 9-10 am immediately followed by Funeral Service at 10 am, all at Salem Lutheran Church, 2101 N. Virginia St., Port Lavaca. Burial will be held on Monday August 5, 2024 at 2:30 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, 425 S. Nau Street, Yorktown, Texas 78164.

Honoring William by serving as Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sturm, Eddie Sturm, Mark Sturm, Corey Sturm, Mark Fehner, and Cody Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you bring a canned good for the Food Pantry, or a memorial may be given to Salem Lutheran Church.
