Jack Irwin Giesecke
Jack Irwin Giesecke, 71, of Rock Island, Texas, passed away on July 21, 2024 in Houston. He was born on November 1, 1952 to Robert Roy Giesecke and Betty Lou (Bailey) Giesecke in Houston, Texas. Jack grew up in Jones Creek and attended Brazosport High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fishery Sciences from Texas A&M University, Gig’em Aggies! Jack settled in Port Lavaca, Texas where he was employed by Formosa Plastics for over twenty years. He was also a long time member of the Bay Gun Club, serving as club president for several terms.
An avid outdoorsman/firearm enthusiast since his youth, Jack never missed a chance to go on a hunting or fishing trip. Every year just before hunting season, he would get a sparkle in his eye ready to go to the deer lease or as he often joked “hunt Bambi’s mama.” He decided to try his hand at competitive shooting winning several awards, a fact he used to try to intimidate boys that came near his daughter with. He was a motorcycle enthusiast racing competitively at the state and national levels in the 1980’s and continuing to ride sport bikes and touring bikes for fun for many years after.
Jack loved a good cup of coffee (or three), good music especially classic rock, Clint Eastwood, and never missed the opportunity to quote South Park. Two of his greatest joys were his daughter Gretchen and granddaughter Haley, who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rob Roy and Betty Lou and his first wife, Suzanne Giesecke.
Jack is survived by his wife Holly Patterson; daughter Gretchen and husband Jay; granddaughter Haley, and other family and friends.
