Commissioner David Hall dies at 54

“It just hurts,” said Calhoun County Judge Vern Lyssy on the passing of Calhoun County Commissioner, Pct. 1, David Hall.
Hall, 54, died early this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 2. The cause of his death has not been released. He served for nine years on the Calhoun County Commissioners Court after being elected to the Precinct 1 seat in 2016, taking office in January 2017.
“My heart goes out to his family,” Lyssy said. “He was a dear friend. We served on the court for nine years and were friends on and off the court.”
It will take up to a month for the court to appoint a replacement, but Lyssy said the other commissioners are stepping up to keep his projects on track.
The judge also stated he had visited with the various departments at the county and most were shocked at the loss of Hall. He worked closely with them and was a regular at the courthouse, explained Lyssy.
“It is difficult for his crew that worked with him daily as they will remember he is not coming back,” said Lyssy.
Lyssy also met with architects and engineers to ensure that Hall’s many projects would proceed.
“This has brought up old wounds from the loss of Judge Richard Meyer,” he said.
A healthy Calhoun County requires great community news.
