Samuel Albert Ureste, Sr, "Sam", "Sambo" by those who knew him was sadly called home June 15, 2025 after his long battle with cancer. He was in the comfort of his home with his loved ones. Samuel was born in San Antonio, Tx, to the late George Ureste, Sr and the late Clara (Gonzales) Ureste. He was raised from the time he was an infant in Port O'connor, Tx, until 1966, when his family decided it was time to make a new life in Seadrift, Tx. He was partial owner in the first oyster shucking house in Seadrift alongside his 5 brothers that their father and mother started. Samuel began shucking oysters at the early age of 7 in Port O'connor for Clark's seafood. He did a lot of net repair for many many shrimpers along the coast.
He was captain of a commercial fisherman's boat named Clara B Bye, that he, his brothers, and his father built together. Sam also turtle fished off the coast of Florida. Up until 2 years ago he worked alongside his son Samuel Albert Ureste, Jr with Ureste Construction. Samuel is preceded in death by his son Albert Martin Ureste. He left behind 2 children, son, Samuel Albert Ureste, Jr (Priscilla Rodriguez– Ureste), and daughter Priscilla Ureste. Along with 9 grandchildren. Nathan Jeffrey Klamm (Jenny Klamm), Marcus Anthony Klamm (Journi Klamm), RosaLinda Marie Klamm Lozano (Jose Lozano), Erica Sanchez, Megan Espinosa, Rodney Sanchez, Samiah Mueck, Alice Ureste, Izabella Ureste and 14 great grandchildren.
Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf in Port Lavaca, TX at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 then his ashes will be laid to rest at Port O' Connor, TX.
