In Loving Memory of Magda Wyatt
1951 — 2025
Magda Wyatt, 73, of Port Lavaca, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Born in Falfurrias, TX, she was the cherished daughter of the late Samuel S. Mireles and Eleonor G. Mireles.
Magda was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and immeasurable love. She carried herself with grace and humility, always putting others before herself. Her heart found joy in the simple things—time spent in nature, the turning of pages in a favorite book, and the laughter shared over movies and games with her loved ones. Her warmth and calm presence made everyone around her feel at home.
She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, where her faith was a source of strength and peace throughout her life. She also served as a board member of the Calhoun County Public Library, a reflection of her lifelong love of reading, learning, and service to her community.
Magda is survived by her loving children, LaVon M. Garcia (Adrian) of Port Lavaca, TX, and Eric F. Wyatt (Adrianne) of Lyndonville, Vermont; and her cherished niece, Michelle McMullen of Port Lavaca, TX, whom she loved like a daughter. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Maricela M. Ornelas (John).
She is preceded in death by her parents. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Brittani Gonyea, Sariah Rubio, Rebekah Garcia, and Jack Wyatt—and her precious great–grandchildren, Sawyer Holifield and Colt Holifield.
Magda's love extended beyond immediate family. She is also survived by her nephews who adored her Mauricio Cantu Jr. and Samuel Cantu.
She was the kind of person who made you feel seen, heard, and loved—someone who could bring calm to chaos, light to darkness, and joy to ordinary days. Magda's presence was a gift to all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home in Port Lavaca, with a chapel service beginning at 6:00 p.m.
As we say goodbye, we give thanks for her life and the love she gave so freely. May we honor her by living with the same quiet compassion, strength, and grace that she showed every day.
